Al-Shamiya project is located within a series of developmental projects launched by the Government with a view to developing and rehabilitating the region surrounding the holy sanctuary of Makkah to meet the needs of its visitors. This project covers an area of one million five hundred thousand square meters approximately, extending from the extremities of the sanctuary to beyond the second circular road to the north and from the Holy Mosque Street to the east and Jabal al Qaaba road to the west. The Riyadh Metro is a rapid transit system under construction in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is being built by world's leading construction companies. It will be the backbone of the city's public transport system and integrated with an 85-kilometre (53 mi) three-line bus rapid transit (BRT) network. KAP 3 is a $4.1bn project to construct 620 security compounds, consisting of 15 call centers, 199 police stations, 68 traffic stations, 54 roads patrol stations, 35 civil defense centers, 41 immigration departments centers, 33 drug enforcement centers, 57 civil status administration buildings, 41 investigation and prosecution buildings, 12 border guard stations, and 70 services and associated facilities in a various location across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. KAP 4 is a $1.2bn contract for the construction of 13 sports and recreational facilities, along with planned dormitories across various areas. This project consists of 59 towers in an area of 1.6 million square meters. It provides more than 3 million square meters of space for various uses, 62,000 parking spaces and accommodation for 12,000 residents. In 2011 it was the largest project in the world seeking green building accreditation. The project includes five-star and four-star hotels on a total developed area of 2 million sq meters approximately surrounds the holy sanctuary of Makkah, with the capacity to host 36,000 persons during most of the year and in excess of 100,000 persons during the Hajj.
